It all started on the water…rowing is what brought our crew together. Through the years, Scott and I [Katie] have coached Cory and Brooke’s daughters in rowing with the North Carolina Rowing Center (our rowing company).  Regatta weekends, team dinners, kindergarten overlap, and rowing center renovations is where the dreaming began to take place. 

After renovating our new North Carolina Rowing Indoor Training Center, Scott and Cory started scheming about a mobile coffee location behind it—a place where we could care for people and brighten someone’s day through hospitality and excellent products. With the support of their wives ;), many daughters, and our wonderful Facebook marketplace find - our Trolley - the journey began. Little did we know (well, actually we kind of knew) what a large renovation endeavor it would be, but whimsey and adventure encouraged us to say yes.

Then the renovations began, and the trolley slowly started to look like something we could actually serve coffee from! From the very beginning, we wanted Crew Coffee to be a warm and welcoming place where people feel cared for, where there’s joy in the everyday, and where families, friends, and neighbors can come together. More than anything, we wanted to create something that reflected what our two families have experienced together: the joy of the journey, the friendships that grow along the way, and the sense of community that comes from having a great crew around you.

For us, it goes back to our girls and what we’ve watched happen through rowing. The team became a place where our daughters really thrived. They found good friends, grew in confidence, learned hard work, and became part of a community that meant a lot to them and to us. We hope Crew Coffee can capture a little bit of that same feeling. People really are what it’s all about. We want to take good care of people, serve great coffee and baked goods, and provide a place of connection.  Maybe it’s a coffee after your morning walk, run, or ride on the greenway. Maybe it’s a treat on the way to school, a quick stop during a busy day, or a chance for you to sit and catch up with a friend. Those are the little moments we’d love to be part of. We’ve been blessed to find a great crew of our own, and we hope Crew Coffee can be a place where you find yours, too.
